Anglia Ruskin

100+ lessons

Hi! I'm Sydney and I'm a very keen Mathematics, Chemistry and Biology tutor. I'm currently a year 4 MBChB medical student at Anglia Ruskin University. I undertook a BSc(Hons) in Anatomy and Developmental Sciences at King's College London and was awarded a First-Class Honours. I scored A*A*A at OCR Biology, Edexcel Mathematics and OCR Chemistry A levels, respectively. I sat my GCSE Mathematics and Core Science in year 10 (a year earlier than usual) and I scored A* and A in both. I have lots of experience achieving top grades and I'm determined to help you reach your full potential and will ensure you stop short of nothing but success :) My first professional teaching experience started when I was 14, I began teaching both Maths and English as an instructor at my local tuition centre whilst studying for my GCSEs. During my tutoring experience, many of my students went on to join prestigious London sixth-form colleges. I'm confident I can do the same for you, be it a sixth form or university you are targeting. I offer tuition in Maths, Chemistry, Biology and English Language subjects. I also offer 1-to-1 mentoring for aspiring medical students who want to get ahead of their peers in the applications which are extremely competitive. I have experience with different types of interviews and personal statement requirements. I'd be happy to help with interview prep and the whole application process.

Hi, my name is Nikhil, and I am currently studying Biomedical Sciences at King's College London! I am a friendly, professional, and highly trained tutor with over 200 hours of tutoring experience. I am extremely passionate about tutoring and helping students perform to the best of their ability. My first lessons are aimed at understanding which learning style works best for the student and are then tailored to individual needs. I understand how difficult A-levels and GCSEs can be, having recently gone through the system myself, and I'd love to help make that process easier for those in the same boat!

I appreciate that different students are at different stages of their learning and some pupils may require more explanation of key ideas and knowledge but would easily transfer that into exam questions, whereas some benefit more from further solidifying their competence of content using exam practice. Therefore, I value being adaptable in my teaching methods implementing techniques such as , using simplified diagramsu and analogies to explain key ideas, use of mini quizzing during teaching to establish concepts and most importantly emphasising the importance of exam technique/practice as ultimately students are measured in their exams based on that. Furthermore these techniques allow me to consistently assess each lesson, the different specific areas which the pupil lacks confidence in by using testing of information in previous lessons to promote active recall and encourage long term knowledge (ultimately learning). With over 200+ hours of tutoring experiences, I ensure my sources are reliable in what I use for teaching as they are updated to match the current curriculums and carry the same key information within the subject which I myself used to achieve very respectable results. However, I am aware of the significance of the responsibility that I as the tutor have to deliver those recourses in a manner which is patient and positively encourages the growth of the student's learning to ultimately work together to achieve a collective goal.

Veterinary medicine

Cambridge

Hey! I'm Zara, a veterinary student who is passionate about science, and watching my students grow in confidence! Having just finished my undergraduate degree, I have done more exams than I can count! - I know what taking GCSEs, A-levels and other exams are like! I can get you exam ready, or even just boost your general confidence in your subject! I have over 2 years over tutoring experience, so I understand that different students like to run the session differently- I do whatever works for you! I also know that queries you have might not also fit into lesson time, so I take pride in fast responses to questions in messenger chat , as well as helping answer homework queries or even marking work. I also have other experience working in tutoring-related jobs, for example creating workbooks and revision courses too. That means I've really had to scour the curriculum and mark-schemes; I have a good feel for what is relevant. Please get in touch, I would be happy to answer any questions you might have- lets schedule a free 15 minute meeting too, to chat about your plans, aims and queries! I look forward to hearing from you, Zara :)

Subject knowledge is a must, but being a good tutor is really about explaining difficult concepts in a way that's clear, engaging and personalised for each student. You can have three degrees in Physics, but that doesn't mean you'll be good at explaining it at GCSE level! Tutors who can empathise with their students and help them build confidence help teens unleash their potential, and we see amazing results in just a few lessons.

Our tutors are from top UK unis, and because they're just a few years older, they can explain things in a way that teens find relatable. We interview all of our tutors, and only the friendliest and most knowledgeable make it on to our platform. We're very picky about it - just 1 in 8 applicants make the cut.

Pick from over 20 subjects and levels with GCSE, A Level and beyond. Click below to find a tutor at the level you need:

Before you look for a tutor, it's helpful to have a really clear idea of exactly where your child needs help - whether with a specific English Literature text, one area of Maths or their exam technique - and filter your choices accordingly. If you're not sure where they need to focus, having a chat with them or their teacher can help you work out the best place to start. In a free meeting, you can then ask the tutor any questions you like and see how well they get on with your child before deciding to book.

Online tutoring gives kids the chance to learn at their own pace and in a way that matches their learning style. Teens are often too shy to put their hand up in class - especially if they're struggling. The reassurance of one-to-one tutoring means they can ask all the questions they want, and go over topics as much as they need until they get it.

One-to-one tutoring lets kids unleash their potential. Worried about learning gaps? We'll fill them in. No tutors in your area? We've got you covered. No academic confidence? No problem. Whatever your child needs help with, their tutor will guide them through tricky topics and boost their self-belief. With the personalised one-to-one support from their tutor, your child can get the grades they deserve.

Our tutors set their own prices based on their experience and qualifications, starting from £25/hour at GCSE level. Most of our tutors charge between £25 and £39 an hour. You can see all the tutors who match your budget with the handy price filter on our Find a tutor page.

Finding a tutor is easy. Whatever you need, you can search and filter by subject, level, price, experience and more.

  • View our tutors, and narrow your search by subject, academic level or price. Or if you'd like expert help, book a call with our free tutor matching service.
  • Compare their profiles to learn about their background, experience and availability. Don't forget to take a peek at their reviews from parents and students!
  • Message a tutor (or two, or three) and book your free meeting at a time that suits you.
  • Book a lesson and pay as you go. There are no hidden costs and you can skip or cancel any time.

We have our own online lesson space with video chat, messaging and an interactive whiteboard - this makes it easy for students and tutors to talk to each other, discuss tricky concepts and do practice questions together. With the live video chat, they can have a natural back-and-forth conversation - just like on FaceTime, Whatsapp and other apps teens use all the time.
