Lucy R. Mentoring -Personal Statements- tutor, Uni Admissions Test .E...

Lucy made a comprehensive program to teach Hamza after their meet the tutor session. The plan was well prepared considering the tutee's strengths and weaknesses and it was conveyed to us. Regular feed backs after each session help us follow the progress. We are happy to see the progress my son is making and definitely recommend her as an English tutor to others. Well done Lucy.

Today's secession was really helpful to me. Lucy showed me where i made mistakes in my C grade essay and how with a few changes, such as developing my A02 i could improve my grade to an A. It was really helpful talking through research evidence and evaluation points and how to link them together and to the overall essay question. Great secession as always

Romy P. Mentoring -Medical School Preparation- tutor, Uni Admissions ...

I got 735 in my UKCAT this year, and my lessons with Romy made all the difference. She has done the UKCAT before, so she knew what she was talking about and gave advice from her personal experience. Her lessons were also very well structured, and she had clearly taken the time to familiarise herself with the UKCAT questions and techniques. She also prepared questions so that we could practice together, and sent me extra material to look at after the lessons too. She was also really nice and encouraging, and definitely made me more confident for the exam. Definitely recommended! Thank you very much Romy!

What our amazing tutors have to say

Brimming with up-to-date curriculum knowledge and always willing to help

What sort of things do you cover with your students?

Usually we cover both subject knowledge and exam technique, although that can change depending on each individual student. Then we go through diagrams, and they ask questions, and we go from there.

How is MyTutor different from school?

Lots of students say that the classes are too big in school, or that they don't have time to ask teachers after lessons. In my tutorials, we take time to explore things in a little in a bit more detail.

What happens in a typical tutorial?

I always look up the board my students are taking so the lessons are really relevant. Then we go through past papers or set texts, whatever the student finds helpful.

How do you explain tricky concepts in your tutorials?

I use the shared whiteboard. We make diagrams together and label them, and often the student prints it off because they know it's right and they completely understand it.

Do you have any success stories?

After tutoring one girl went and told all her friends the new explanation I gave her. And she was so excited about what she wrote in the exam she emailed me immediately afterwards.

Can you help with last-minute revision?

There was one girl who had her exam on Monday. She wanted tuition on Friday, Saturday and Sunday beforehand. It was very intense, but she said the exam went well.
