About me

Hi! My name is Lilly and I am a 22 year old Veterinary Medicine student at the University of Cambridge. I have previously achieved a first class degree in Natural Sciences at Cambridge. I love how these subjects let me combine my interests in both biology and chemistry, with a practical career path. I have had to opportunity to engage in aspects of biochemistry and physiology that I studied at school, as well as learning about brand new topics including pharamacology and anatomy. I love how these subjects let me combine my interests in both biology and chemistry, with a practical career path. I have had to opportunity to engage in aspects of biochemistry and physiology that I studied at school, as well as learning about brand new topics including pharamacology and anatomy. I found applying to university a difficult process, as for all Oxbridge, Medical and Veterinary degrees there is a huge amount of competition. I was lucky enough to have a current student mentor me through my personal statement drafts, and interview preperation.

I take part in many extracurricular activities, including winning the intercollegiate football competition this year. I am the Veterinary Medicine Representative for my college. I am keen on helping others applying to Cambridge University, and have volunteered at open days and access events across the University.

About my sessions

Writing a personal statement is an extremely personal process, and therefore I aim to show students how to use their own experiences and interests to craft a statement. In our first session I will encourage students to explore any work experience placements, to identify key events which helped inform them about their future career choice, or sparked their interest academically. We will then work together to incorporate the range of extracurriculars the student is passionate about, ensuring to...

Writing a personal statement is an extremely personal process, and therefore I aim to show students how to use their own experiences and interests to craft a statement. In our first session I will encourage students to explore any work experience placements, to identify key events which helped inform them about their future career choice, or sparked their interest academically. We will then work together to incorporate the range of extracurriculars the student is passionate about, ensuring to use these experiences to showcase what a fantastic applicant the student is. In further sessions I will read the personal statement draft, offering advice on both content and format. Once the student is happy with their personal statement we can work on preperation for admissions tests and interviews. If the student wishes I will prepare several mock interviews, to give a realistic experience of a Medical/Veterinary/Oxbridge interview, as well as giving comprehensive feedback.
