About me

I am a second year General Engineering student at Durham University. I have a passion for science and technology and often find delight in finding out how things work. Richard Feynman (Nobel Laureate) puts it better! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VSG9q_YKZLI

I am a friendly and fun person that loves to liven up any situation. I have previously taught maths on a one-to-one basis at the request of my teachers as well as volunteering in classrooms for GCSE maths and physics so I know how to be supportive in the right ways!

The Sessions

Understanding is key. To succeed, we’ll answer all your queries of ‘whys’ and ‘hows’ on the topic. Everyone learns differently, I know that catering to each tutee is important. What we study will be entirely up to you; bring the problem and I’ll make sure the sessions are stimulating and enjoyable.

Catering to the exam board you are sitting is very important, you’ll be taught the exam techniques and styles to familiarise with what examiners are looking for and gain those top marks!

Tackle a new topic: Revise prerequisite knowledge; explain using diagrams, examples and analogies until you feel confident.

Examples and questions to reinforce knowledge: Reinforce your understanding by working through example questions and past papers and relating to the real world implications.

Homework: Homework! I will provide a bunch of practice questions for you to try by yourself. Practice makes perfect! I can go through the solutions in the next session.

Feel free to message me with any requests and queries. Thanks for visiting and I hope to see you soon. =]

Questions Oscar has answered

How do signs change in an inequality?

Normal manipulation of inequalities does not affect the direction of the inequality such as:
addition
subtraction
multiplication or division by a positive number,

The direction of the inequality will change by:
multiplication or division of a negative number
swapping the sides of the inequality

This can also be thought of a sign change, where the sides are swapped back to their original sides, but the signs change.
