About me

Hello, I'm Laura and I recently graduated with a master's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. Hello, I'm Laura and I recently graduated with a master's in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Imperial College London. If you haven't heard of it don't worry, it's basically a University just for the STEM subjects. I was lucky enough to be able to study electronics at A level, something that I completely fell in love with. I also studied Maths, Physics and Chemistry. Since A levels however, I have only really used maths and electronics, so these are what I have chosen to tutor in. I have tutored before, I taught classes of roughly 10 students at A level when I was studying (I wanted my friends to pass) and have tutored students through GCSE and 11+ as well. My tutoring style is very much focussing on the individual, if someone learns more doing something one way then that's the way I will teach it. I normally start by asking the students where they struggle and working from there. I always used alternative methods to my teachers when I was learning, so know multiple methods for nearly everything in both maths and electronics. I am passionate about my subjects and know the syllabuses very well, I have a history of improving students grades and want to help more students not just understand the subject, but take a genuine interest in them, in the hope that they might even pursue it further.

About my sessions

Learning is very individual, each student session will be structured differently. Learning is very individual, each student session will be structured differently. From my end I can prepare worksheets, example questions and methodology guides, whichever would work best for the given student. I start by working out which areas the student needs to work on most, using a short question and answer session, not a test as such , but asking questions and seeing if the student can give the methodology. From here the sessions will be entirely topic related, with starter questions given each session covering the other topics so they don't escape the mind. In order to measure a student's progress, I am a firm believer that past papers are the way forward, after all, the tutoring is for an exam. Therefore after subsequent topics have been covered, a session will be allocated to going through a past paper. This is to gage how much more help the student needs in order to be able to answer the questions themselves.

She is very patient and good at explaining things in language that is understandable when you are not too familiar with the topic.
