About me

Hola and hello! I am a 22-year-old Graduate of Hispanic Studies from Essex, but taught at the University of Warwick! I am obsessed with Spanish, a keen reader of English and Spanish books, plus I'm a lover of Salsa dancing and Latino music too. I have just spent a year working in Costa Rica with a Conservation Organisation and an Eco-Hotel, and I love to help people learn languages, as my ability to communicate with people abroad has opened so many doors for me! I'm learning all about Hispanic history, literature, popular culture and music in my degree, but using the Spanish language is what I'm planning to do in life, alongside my plans to set up my own Eco-friendly business! I have experience in helping both GCSE and IB-level students learn and improve their Spanish language skills, and their English language and literature knowledge. I'm super positive, chatty and encouraging, so if that's what you're looking for, look no further!

I will first of all make sure I know exactly what the student is comfortable with and what they're struggling with on the syllabus, that way I structure the sessions around what they need help with the most! During my own language learning journey, I have learnt the most with teachers and people that have tailored their questions and conversations to me, my interests and my inquisities; I therefore plan to do the same for any students I work with. I'd really like to find out what topics interest the student and then come up with ways to become more informed on each topic together, through taking examples from articles and blog posts, as well as film clips, music and resources which put forward a variety of different voices (especially accents if I'm working with a student of languages). I will do my best to tailor the sessions to the school work that the student has to complete and then use that as a basis for measuring their progress; if I can get the student to demonstrate to me their confidence (or lack of) in various different aspects of the language we're working on (e.g. chatting to a friend in the language, talking to a stranger in the language, watching a film in the language, reading a newspaper article in the language ect.), then I can refer back to this as we progress! If the world fascinates you and the only thing holding you back is your language, I want to help!
