About me

Hello! My name is Aaron and I have recently graduated from the Human, Social, and Political Sciences course at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. Hello! My name is Aaron and I have recently graduated from the Human, Social, and Political Sciences course at Fitzwilliam College, Cambridge. I received a very high 2.1 (68.5). The course was challenging, but extremely rewarding, and encompassed a variety of different disciplines, with a particular focus on Politics and Sociology. As I went through the trials and tribulations of school exams and university applications only too recently, I feel I am well equipped to help students going through the same. When I was a pupil, it could take me a few tries to understand a concept, so I am a big believer in clear explanations and lots of examples worked through with a teacher or tutor, followed by frequent practice and feedback. I have been teaching younger students for the past year and am very excited to continue to do so online. Having grown up in Vienna, Austria, and having studied German language and literature at school I am also fluent in German and am particularly excited about helping students grow and learn in their pursuit of a language that at times can feel very difficult to tackle.

About my sessions

I think it is important for a student to pair their own learning with what they are taught in a lesson or tutorial. I think it is important for a student to pair their own learning with what they are taught in a lesson or tutorial. Therefore, I will tell my student in advance what it is we will be focusing on during the tutorial (which of course can be requested by them, if they have material they are aware they struggle with) to give them the chance tor read a bit about it, or to look at certain vocabulary/concepts etc. We will then discuss what the topic is, the main ideas, and where the difficult bits are, more generally, and for them personally. We can then work through some examples together, talking through how you would go about answering this particular type of question, what your thought process should be when you approach it, and develop some strategies for doing this efficiently during an exam. I will then give the student a couple of questions to answer alone, to ascertain whether they have grasped the information. If they answer these successfully, we can move on to a few harder examples. Of course none of this is rigid, as individual student's needs always need to be taken into account. In the next tutorial, we will quickly go over what was covered in the previous one to make sure it has been well covered, and go through any work that the student has done before moving on.
