About me

Hello, my name is Claire! I am half-French and half-Italian, studying a Master's in Environmental Engineering at Imperial College London.

When I was 11, my family moved from France to China, where I began a secondary school education, fully in English, which I didn't previously know! Needless to say, I have also had my fair share of tutors in China to help me with studies in a whole new language. Hence, I know what it is like to be on the receiving end of tutoring, and I strive to help students feel as comfortable as I was lucky to, thanks to the tutors I had.

At the age of 16, I was still in China and had moved to a new school. My ability to quickly pick up new skills was noticed, and I began tutoring younger students at my school. I helped Chinese and Taiwanese students with English, and foreigners with general homework. Towards the end of my school life in China before I moved to the UK for university, I was tutoring students only a few years younger than me (hence doing their IGCSE's) in mathematics, physics and chemistry, my three favourite subjects.

Due to my upbringing, I also speak French and Italian at a native level, and I have an intermediate level in Mandarin. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions, and I look forward to meeting you!

About my sessions

I remember visual learning always helped me through school, with my tutors and previous tutees too. I am an organised and methodical student, hence I would love to draw up a rough study plan with the student on the first lesson and fun and different homework for after the class. I would get a feel for what they struggle with, what they need more information about, if they simply want to go through whole chapters with me or if they feel they'd rather go through questions. In any case, I wo...

I would get a feel for what they struggle with, what they need more information about, if they simply want to go through whole chapters with me or if they feel they'd rather go through questions. In any case, I would prepare lessons ahead of time and teach prepared, with diagrams and even props! I am a big fan of random, fun quizzes, which I would probably get the student to engage with on a monthly basis, to ensure progress is being kept up. I always like to know how a student would approach a question before giving them the answer instantly.
