Latin, Classical Greek and Ancient History are my fields. But don't worry if Palmyra is not your subject of choice, I'm a flexible tutor with an A level in English Literature and experience as a journalist. The written word is where I get my kicks and passing on a passion for literature and history, both ancient and modern, is what I'm all about. Life is not all about passing exams, but they do play an important part in our development these days so if that is what the client requires, then I am fully capable. With experience of the 11+, Oxbridge entrance, private school entrance, and the wonderful Common Entrance, there are so many 'entrances', I'm ready to tutor in whatever context. But most of all, I want to share my knowledge and experiences.

Lessons are all about interaction from the student. Language learning is not about dictation but about active involvement and engagement. Once we have unlocked the language, we need to decipher the tools the author has used to express their meaning and enhance the style of the piece. Texts are never viewed in isolation. I believe it is key to develop a deeper understanding of the context. Antiquity is not a dead culture, but a living and breathing society that means so much to our civilisation today. Progress will be measured by the confidence of the student in front of their material and the command of the text, artwork or whatever source to which they are responding.
