About me

Hi, my name is Nabeel and I’m a final year medical student at the University of Glasgow. I was always fascinated by science and the human body, and a career in medicine was all I could imagine doing when I left school. I worked very hard to make sure I got a place at university and that meant studying hard to get good grades in my Higher and Advanced Higher subjects, writing an eye-catching personal statement and getting a great UKCAT score.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time at medical school so far. I love going in every day to learn about something new, something even more fascinating about the human body. I love knowing that what I’m learning can have a potentially huge impact on somebody’s life and I can’t wait to put that to use in the future. I’ve gotten involved with societies that have really shaped my time at university over the past couple of years. I was always passionate about charity, even during school when I volunteered at my local Oxfam charity shop. Now I am president of Glasgow Marrow, the student run branch of the national charity Anthony Nolan. We sign up selfless donors to the stem cell register, to help save the lives of people with blood cancer.

I’ve been through it all and I can use that personal experience to help your child. I want to help others achieve their goals, that’s why I’m here.

About my sessions

I believe the key to successful tutoring is adapting to the individual student. I will aim to quickly work with your child to identify what areas they need to work on, what has worked for them in the past and what strategies can work in the future. I’ve used many different study techniques in the past, and I will be able to offer up some of them and see if they are suited to your child.

I think goals and targets are good motivators and I will use these early on so both I and the student know what we are working towards. I also think these should be open to change throughout the process and I will make sure that we keep these goals and targets flexible.

Structure is important in lessons such as these, so I will prepare in advance a rough timetable that allows each student to get the most out of their time. I have experience with teaching and I have always received positive feedback. As I’ve been in their position not long ago, I can use my personal experiences to help your children be the best they can.
