About me

This autumn I will begin my second year of medicine at university. Throughout secondary school, I discovered that my favourite subjects were science-based. I have a passion for medicine as it combines my fascination of science and its exciting, ever-changing nature with my desire to help people and serve communities. I love to be academically challenged and look forward to the broad range of specialities available after I finish my studies.

My past teaching experiences include teaching English and mathematics on a weekly basis in primary and special schools and coaching at a summer camp after completion of a teacher training course with the national sports council. More recently, I have taught asthma care at local primary schools as part of my university’s AIR society. I believe that positive relationships lead to more effective learning and transfer of knowledge, therefore I work with students to rapidly build rapport and establish working relationships. I listen and adapt to individual needs and learning styles.

Examinations and applications can be intimidating and challenging. I have experience of successfully applying for competitive courses, internships and bursaries which include a fully-funded internship with Teach First at the London headquarters and a grant for my overseas work experience in China this summer.

About my sessions

I am a current student; therefore, I understand student perspectives and navigate the paths to success in a pressured environment. In addition, I attended secondary school until not long ago and understand the approach necessary to succeed in current secondary school exams.

My tutorials are student-based, meaning that they target what the student wants and feels that they would benefit most from. I place emphasis on problem topics identified by the student and revise the key principles, working through basic questions structured around the topic before attempting more challenging questions and past papers. I set non-mandatory work for future lessons, if and when appropriate.

I provide advice on the examination technique required to answer questions efficiently and effectively and obtain maximal marks. This includes the method to structure clear and concise short answers and essays, appropriately tailored for different subjects. I provide guidance on revision methods and constructing thorough revision timetables. I credit my academic success to repetition, bitesize learning, visual aids and reflection which I incorporate into my teaching.
