Who am I? Hi! I'm Ruth and I'm a Psychology student at the University of York, with a focus on neuroscience and clinical psychology (although I've spent two years getting a great grounding in Psychology as a whole). Psychology is my passion, although I've also studied Philosophy and English Literature. I hope that in our tutorials my enthusiasm for sharing what I have learnt and encouraging you to ask the questions that drive you will be evident. What is my experience? I have been a private tutor for several years before joining MyTutorWeb, specialising in working with children with special needs as well as tutoring for exams and general tutoring. It's really important to me that you drive your sessions, as you know your learning best. Based on this we will focus on what's important to you and finding ways to achieve your goals. What can I tutor in? I can tutor in A Level Psychology, Philosophy and English Literature, as well as GCSE English. I can also help you with mentoring for university applications, (I successfully gained a place at the University of Cambridge so know the Oxbridge application process, as well as UCAS in general), the Extended Project Qualification, and general exam technique. I look forward to hearing from you, please send me a message if you have any questions at all!

How do I write a plan for an essay in an exam?

Remember to firstly read the questions carefully and choose which one you want to answer. This may be the one you feel most confident with, or that you've revised most successfully for. Then quickly think of the main points you wish to make. Your plan may look something like this:
- Introduction (briefly outline what you'll say with some background)
- Point 1
- Point 2
- Point 3
- Conclusion (summarise what you have said and what this means in response to the question).
It can also be useful to remember that every point should be brought back to the question at the end. Another useful tip is that the first sentence of your introduction and the last sentence of your conclusion should be able to be read together and make sense. see more
