About me

Hello!

I'm a second year student of French and Spanish at the University of Cambridge and I have also been a language teaching assistant for three years. I would certainly call myself a dedicated linguist and I am keen to help other pupils get the best grades possible in their exams/class.

How can I help you/your child? The University of Cambridge offers a vast network of exclusive learning resources, including audio visual material, specialist grammar work and vocabulary that you just would not come across unless you have ever lived in the country whose language you are studying. I am very fortunate to have these facilities at my fingertips and all my pupils will have access to these resources, putting them at a huge advantage over their peers.

Additionally, in my lessons, we will work closely with exam board textbooks, as well as with my own step-by-step grammar guides in order to build and reaffirm the basic building blocks of the pupil's language learning. I invite you to browse the reviews my current students have written on my page to see how effective my lessons have been for them.

About my sessions

How my lessons are structured is largely down to the pupil. I specialise in grammar, vocabulary and speaking. But I can assist with any aspect of language.

The first thing I will ask my pupil is what aspect(s) of language they are struggling with. Alternatively, if there are any past papers/mock exams pupils would like to run through with me (be it because they haven't had time to do so at school etc), I am very comfortable with offering guidance concentrating on specific exam exercises.

Once we have established which aspects they require help with, I will break the hour lesson down as follows:

15 minutes of passive learning (i.e. me explaining a principle or concept), 15 minutes of active learning (i.e. giving the pupil pre-prepared questions/exercises to do to test if they have understood my explanations), 15 minutes of oral practise (i.e we will have a conversation based on the topics we are covering/ targeting any grammar principles we have learned that day), 15 minutes for any other queries or exercises: the pupil may have a (small) vocabulary test.

Homework will be light, unless specifically requested otherwise, as I am aware students have school commitments and I am not here to add to the already heavy load. However, I am big on vocabulary - so be prepared for lots of vocabulary sheets coming your way!

Georgio has really helped me in Spanish improve my Spanish by two grades. The lessons are clear and really helpfull going through vocabulary and the different tenses.
