About me

I'm a postgraduate at The University of Oxford, and already hold a Congratulatory First in German (BA) with the best results of the 200 students in the Languages department, as well as the highest grades in Arts subjects at my college. These results are testament to a deep-seated passion for language and literature, which I love sharing with my tutees.

I also have over four years of tutoring experience, from primary through to A Level and adult learners. It's a consistent delight to celebrate tutees' successes - be it getting to grips with a thorny bit of grammar, having a 'eureka!' moment with a tricky piece of literature, or passing exams with flying colours.

Reading German at Oxford - a course grounded in literary texts - has meant that I haven't had to sacrifice the love of literature I developed while studying English Literature at A Level, and that I've continued to refine the analytical skills and creativity needed to teach it.

About my sessions

Coming out the other side of exams with your target grade certainly has its share of stresses (I've been there, done that, got a sackful of t-shirts). My aim now, as a tutor, is to make the examination experience as painless as possible, equipping tutees with the confidence and capabilities they need to ace their goals - and to have some fun along the way!

There can be no one-size-fits-all formula when it comes to a tutoring session. Every tutee has different likes and dislikes, strengths and weaknesses, and will progress at an individual pace. This is why I tailor my lessons to every tutee's abilities, needs, and wishes. I can help with anything from oral presentations and spoken fluency, to essays, literature, and grammar (having personally tried all the tips and tricks!).

My lessons are designed to challenge, not to overstretch. I set regular quizzes to check tutees’ progress - as well as asking for frequent feedback so I can make sure to be the best tutor I can be. We don't always understand things from the word go - and that's perfectly okay. But if you or your child needs a helping hand from someone who's experienced as both a tutor and a student themselves, I’m here to help.
