About me

Hi, I'm Hannah! I'm committed helping students become fearless learners and transcend their expectations, whatever their individual learning goals. I'm passionate about supporting students achieve academically but moreover develop their own critical skills, confidence and genuine love of learning. Studying English Literature and Philosophy enabled me to build my own creative, analytical and communicative skills and I cannot wait to help students unlock their own potential.

About my sessions

I believe preparation is key, therefore prior to the session I will ensure to have established the student's specific learning goals in the tutorial subject, prepared the relevant materials such as prose passages, stimuli or practice questions and to have discussed areas that the student wants to particularly focus upon- such as essay structure, a particular topic in Philosophy, or theme in a set text.

Patience, empathy and active listening are key to my approach to tutoring. I believe academic growth is strongly linked to developing confidence in one's own ideas and abilities, therefore I make sure to reinforce positive aspects of the student's work as well as clearly highlighting areas that could be improved. I will always check back in at the close of a session to revisit what we have covered and double-check the student's understanding, asking if they have any further questions about the material or techniques used.
