About me

Hi, I'm Lewis and I study English Literature at the University of York, which approximately translates as reading a lot and then talking about having read a lot. I love discussing books and essays with people, and am keen to tutor an English A-level or GCSE student on how to survive coursework and exams.

I was editor of a sixth form magazine so have a lot of practice teaching the practicalities of writing and grammar, but I also achieved worryingly close to 100% in A-level maths, and would be happy to tutor GCSE Maths to anyone wanting a slightly different perspective on numbers.

I can be flexible about session content depending on personal preference, but no matter the topic, I will always bring enthusiasm and a sense of humour along too. Both English and Maths become infinitely easier when one is passionate about them, and so I hope I can pass on some of my enjoyment of the subjects to you!

I can also provide advice on everything from personal statements to EPQs, having done them all myself (I feel so old).

So if it sounds like I might fit the bill (or all the other tutors are busy) then send me a message on this site's WebMail, or book a 'meet the tutor' session. I look forward to meeting you!
