About me

I’m Currently a Computer Science undergraduate who is immensely passionate about Maths. I’m also part of the Bath Computer Science Society and Bath Video Gaming Society! I’m Currently a Computer Science undergraduate who is immensely passionate about Maths. I’m also part of the Bath Computer Science Society and Bath Video Gaming Society! What I love about Maths and Computer Science is that both have a large problem-solving aspect within it. With Maths being my strongest and favourite subject during secondary school, picking both Maths and Further Maths at A-Level was important to me so I could learn more about a subject I loved. I believe that a strong foundation in Maths is the key to a successful future in multiple career paths, especially in the computing industry. Having recently taken Mathematics and Further Mathematics at A-Level, I understand the content and exam technique required to achieve full marks. I’ve also been through the stress and pressure of studying at GCSE and A-Level, so I understand how my students would be feeling at this crucial point in life. I will help them achieve the top grades!

I also give personal statement advice. Getting your personal statement right is critical to receiving offers from the top universities. I know all the common pitfalls many students take when writing these, and also the small gems which makes a personal statement truly stand out. Personal statements can be used for anything in the future! From job applications to public speaking material! Having a good one will be invaluable for you later in life.

About my sessions

Firstly, I plan on finding out what the student’s strengths and weaknesses are, as well as what they would like to achieve from my sessions. I prefer the student requesting help on a particular topic, so I can plan my session in advance to tackle that specific topic with necessary key points and exam-style questions I can work through with the student. The students are free to ask questions at any point, and I encourage them that there is no such thing as stupid questions.

Towards the end, I will discuss with the student whether we have met the achievements of the session. I will also discuss with him/her what topic we should focus on in the next session so I can prepare accordingly. I would also be happy to set the student additional questions to complete in their free time to test their ability, for discussion in the next session (depending on the preference of the student/parent). For me, I found that focusing intensively on each weak topic individually helped me improve greatly during A-levels, so I will employ similar techniques in tutoring sessions.

Highly recommended. Emmanuel has helped my son with GCSE maths; he is very thorough, well prepared and friendly and has improved my son’s understanding and given him much more confidence with the harder GCSE questions.
