About me

Hello! I'm Phoebe and I'm in my second year studying Human, Social and Political Sciences (HSPS) at Cambridge. It sounds like a mouthful, but essentially my degree's a melting pot of all the social sciences, meaning I get to consider contemporary and past social issues in lots of exciting and different ways! I loved studying all humanities at A level and how the interesting ways they intersected with each other, and look forward to bringing those different approaches to my tutorin...

I'm particularly passionate about mentoring with Oxbridge and university preparation, having found the process very daunting myself. I'm keen to myth-bust and offer concrete advice from real experience of the interview and application process, which I found lacking in my school's resources. Having also directed and performed in theatre and comedy while at university, I take a far more creative approach to lessons and offer a personalised experience far more engaging than any textbook.

About my sessions

Having spent my summers teaching English and History at academic camps, I've created extensive lesson plans thinking creatively about ways to engage students, but above all I prioritise being able to adapt these to what suits you. I want to know what you’d like to get out of our sessions so we can set clear objectives we can work towards together. By fostering an open environment, students can tell me what does and doesn't work for them during sessions so we can make sure they get the...

Having spent my summers teaching English and History at academic camps, I've created extensive lesson plans thinking creatively about ways to engage students, but above all I prioritise being able to adapt these to what suits you. I want to know what you’d like to get out of our sessions so we can set clear objectives we can work towards together. By fostering an open environment, students can tell me what does and doesn't work for them during sessions so we can make sure they get the best out of the experience.

From my experience at school, when I struggled to understand something, it was often through an alternative explanation that I was able to grasp a concept for myself. I pride myself on being able to listen to your concerns and think of new ways to explain content in ways that are individually tailored. Consolidation and encouragement are also important to make sure that the benefits of each lesson reach far beyond their time limit. By reassuring you of their knowledge, often by testing them to make sure they understand, and offering constant support, I hope I can give you the confidence to go forward and tackle those exams!
