About me

Hi there, I'm Charlotte! I'm studying for my masters in psychological research. I spent the last academic year studying abroad in the USA and am happy to be back home at the University of Birmingham now! I've always been fascinated by people and am a natural scientist. I am very people-oriented and have always found science subjects to be my strong suit, this has led me to pursue a career in clinical psychology.

I spent the last academic year studying abroad in the USA and am happy to be back home at the University of Birmingham now! I've always been fascinated by people and am a natural scientist. I am very people-oriented and have always found science subjects to be my strong suit, this has led me to pursue a career in clinical psychology.

I've achieved high grades in science and maths throughout my school life, and have selected modules at university to play on these strengths.

From my experience tutoring, and personal experience, I have accumulated a range of tips and tricks to help with studying, revision and exams outside of our lessons that I'm happy to share to help your child!

I take pride in being able to adapt teaching style and different approaches depending on the student I am working with so that it works best for them and helps them to reach their targets. Whether this is focusing on certain topics that students are finding difficult to understand, or certain question styles that are harder to answer.

If you'd like to discuss your goals and how I can help with this, please book a video meeting with me and we'll set it up. I look forward to speaking with you! :)

About my sessions

During our free meeting I like to establish where the student is currently and where they would like to be with their studies. This is helpful when planning lessons as I can see where we’re starting from and where we need to go to reach our targets. Often looking over a recent past paper can be helpful with this.

During our free meeting I like to establish where the student is currently and where they would like to be with their studies. This is helpful when planning lessons as I can see where we’re starting from and where we need to go to reach our targets. Often looking over a recent past paper can be helpful with this.

I generally start by recapping the previous lessons topic by asking the student a few questions and answering any questions that arose between sessions. I'll then move on to walking through the topic for that day using a variety of visual aids, gauging how much a student seems to know about it and how quickly they're understanding to determine the pace of this. I do this by asking some quick questions as we talk through the topic. I'll then answer any questions the student has to make sure they understand thoroughly before moving on to asking them questions. I generally start with easier questions, moving up to shorter and then longer exam / past paper questions. Having a student answer questions cements what we've covered and highlights areas for us to revisit together that they may not have understood.

I'm here to support your child and encourage them to achieve their best. However, I've found the most encouraging thing for a student is realising that they can reach their goals and that they know much more than they often think they do. I find helping my students grown in confidence to realise their goals is my favourite part of tutoring!

A fantastic tutor. Really talented at teaching and always has very well planned revision lessons, incorporating teaching subject content with exam questions. Her cheerful and patient manner makes the sessions enjoyable and the subject matter less intimidating.
