Hi

I am a second year student at the University of Warwick currently studying MORSE (Mathematics, Operational Research, Statistics and Economics). This challenging course is allowing me to further develop skills in Mathematics and Economics which have been some of my favourite subjects ever since I got to know them at school. My enthusiasm and knowledge in this area, I believe, are key to making me a good tutor for these subjects as I am able to deliver seamless explanations of both the theory required and the approach to answering exam questions.

Having studied the IB too, I know these exams inside out and can therefore help you with specific exam technique and how to tackle the type of questions the IB usually sets out for students as well as going through exam timing, structuring of responses and devising other strategies to maximise your grades.

Having won the awards for best student of Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics as well as a commendation for Economics at my school I can confidently say that I am well equipped to also teach Chemistry and Physics at GCSE level although I am not studying these subjects at University.

I have also gone through my own application process where I was accepted to University College London, University of Warwick and University of Bath and which I can use to help students perfect their Personal Statements so that you can get into the University that you want.

About my sessions

I believe every student is different in the way they learn and think, so I like to adapt my sessions to your needs with the first sessions being used to work through some introductory problems to get to know how I can most effectively improve your grades. I will never be able to understand something the way you understand it and for that reason I believ...

I believe every student is different in the way they learn and think, so I like to adapt my sessions to your needs with the first sessions being used to work through some introductory problems to get to know how I can most effectively improve your grades. However I am a firm believer that the best way for anyone to learn is to understand concepts by themselves. I will never be able to understand something the way you understand it and for that reason I believe that the main focus for me as a tutor is to find the most effective way to guide you towards understanding something.

I usually structure my lessons in two parts, starting off with looking at the theory of a certain topic and making sure that the student is confident in the theory behind the application. I use the second part of the lesson to apply this theory to questions which students may have struggled with in class/homework or questions I will have prepared previously. This is a general approach which I have found to work well with students but it will depend also on what the student is struggling with the most. For example, come exam season, I tend to focus more on exam technique and answering past paper questions as oppose to going through theory.
