About me

I am a second year undergraduate student of English at University College London.

I love studying English not just because I enjoy reading and writing, but because it provides me with lots of transferable skills (which just so happens to make me a great candidate to be your tutor ;)).

Throughout school I benefitted from the help of my peers, as we worked together to help each other reach our goals. Interacting with other perspectives than your own, or your teachers', can be invaluable in helping you to develop new ideas or think critically, and this is exactly what can help to create a well-rounded student.

Furthermore, having been through GCSE's and A Levels, I understand that simply being passionate about your subject, or having great ideas, (whilst being brilliant) isn't always enough for the exam boards; I understand the importance of focus on exam specifications and exam skills in order to achieve outcome you want.

I have always thoroughly enjoyed my education and hope to be able to pass this enthusiasm on and help out people like me along the way!

Sessions will typically begin with a discussion of knowledge around the topic in question. If necessary, we will work on research or revising skills in this part of the lesson.

The second part of the lesson will typically focus on exam skills and criteria, which will be put into practice by working through an exam-style question.

I expect these to be the two main aspects of a lesson, however if the student requires a shift in focus, this can all be discussed, and the lesson altered and personalised accordingly.

Adding additional and unnecessary pressure and stress on top of the student's (probably already high) current workload is unproductive. For this reason, I will give assignments to be worked on outside of sessions only if the student is comfortable with the extra work. These sessions should aid the student's school work, not hinder or stand in the way of it.
