About me

Having taught Drama in a secondary school after completing my A-Levels, where I had the opportunity to direct several plays, including Euripides’ The Bacchae and a sixth-form production of Stephen Berkoff’s Agamemnon influenced by the surreal and often quite horrifying theories of Antonin Artaud, I am currently in the final year of my undergraduate degree in English Literature, enjoying the enormous breadth of freedom to choose to topics and writers whom I am particularly interested in, which...

Though I have not completely made up my mind concerning what to do after university, I hope to continue teaching, whether as a tutor or full-time in a university or school. Outside of the concerns of my degree, I teach classical singing and play the piano, especially enjoying the liberty to make a few mistakes when accompanying instrumental soloists.

About my sessions

Lessons will always be structured around the specific needs of the students and can simply supplement or help with school work, as and when is needed.

Lessons will always be structured around the specific needs of the students and can simply supplement or help with school work, as and when is needed.

I hope to help the student move beyond the set-texts, authors, or plays; not only because this would of itself be interesting, helping to develop the enthusiasm that is certainly the most vital ingredient for success in exams, but because being acquainted with the broader literary/cultural context that a work is situated greatly deepens one’s understanding of it. Moving beyond the set-texts needn’t be very time-consuming; often a few short articles, a chapter of a book, a poem or a play can dramatically broaden one’s perspective. Together with acquiring knowledge of historical context, the chief aims of my lessons will also be to help the student develop their ability to analyze texts.

My daughter has started lesson with henry to prepare for her Charterhouse entry a month before the exam took place, and had approximately four to five lesson with Henry. She has improve so much in her transactional writing and non-fiction reading! My daughter has received her offer yesterday and successfully gained an international place (around 15 pupil a year) at Charterhouse School and will be going there for sixth form 2020. It is extremely competitive and hard for an international place and my daughter said:" I would not have got in if Henry did not help me with my transactional."
