About me

I've always had a passion for science, with a real interest in Biology and Chemistry, Biochemistry is therefore an obvious choice for me. I love studying life on the molecular level allowing me to build on my chemical knowledge and progress into other fields of Biology.

I was lucky to have very good teachers at A-level and GCSE who helped me through a subject I initially found extremely difficult.

I was lucky to have very good teachers at A-level and GCSE who helped me through a subject I initially found extremely difficult.

After getting an E in my Chemistry A-level mock to getting an A* in my actual exam, I know what it is like to really struggle with a science subject. I therefore feel I can help students of any ability aiming for any grade as I have useful skills in understanding complex concepts, to useful revision tips to advice for exam technique, all of which I developed with hard work in a short period of time.

About my sessions

I found the best way to revise for my exams was to do as many past papers as possible and therefore going through sample questions will form the basis of my tutoring sessions. My sessions will focus on topics the student isn't confident with and exam technique.

I found the best way to revise for my exams was to do as many past papers as possible and therefore going through sample questions will form the basis of my tutoring sessions. My sessions will focus on topics the student isn't confident with and exam technique.

Past papers are perfect for checking that fundamental concepts are understood and therefore can reveal which topics need to be focused on - there's no point going over topics they understand. Once these topics are identified, I'll go through them with the student, discussing the concepts and providing explanations different to that of their teachers.

Past papers also develop exam technique - something I found to be nearly as important as understanding the concepts as, especially in science papers, questions with similar structures occur in papers year on year. This means that even if the student doesn't understand whole question isn't understood some marks can still be gained and that can be the difference between a grade!

Therefore sessions will also focus on exam technique and this involves looking at the mark schemes as well as past papers. This teaches the students what the examiners want to see thus helping them to get as many marks as possible.

I'll also offer advise on structuring notes and have a wealth of worksheets and resources both online and offline I can offer - all of which coming from someone who has been through these exams very recently.
