About me

I am a 3rd year chemistry student at the University of Edinburgh. I love my degree because it has the perfect balance between the theoretical knowledge and the practical labs. Chemistry (and science in general) explains so much of day to day life and this fascinates me. Outside of this, I like to read, knit, and explore Scotland.

I am passionate about education, because I fundamentally love learning, and I have been tutoring younger students since I was 16. I will help my students by giving the skills to figure out the answers for themselves, using clear explanations. I also have many tips and tricks for tackling exam questions to pass on! When I revise for exams I work in a cycle of completing past papers to practice and find out what areas I am weaker in, and then hone in my revision on that area before doing another paper. It is this approach that I would encourage my students to use, especially closer to exams season.

About my sessions

The first thing I will ask for is a recent test or mock exam. This will enable me to see the student's strengths and weaknesses, and know where to focus. I will base my lessons off the course synopsis to make sure the content is relevant and helpful. My approach will vary from student to student, but it will always be focussed on assisting the student in solving problems for themselves, rather than me just explaining everything.
