About me

I'm a first year medicine student who has been very fond of Chemistry and Biology since year 7 due to the way they work in partnership to allow Healthcare professionals and Researchers to find innovative ways to treat patients and find cures to diseases. I found that these 2 subjects allowed for me to gain insight into what the science behind human growth and development as well as the processes leading to disease and harm. Maths was always good fun as it allowed me to solve questions in a manner that was different to someone else and somtimes unique to me but still allowing me to get the answer right. I will ensure that my students are prepared for their final exams by setting regular tests to be sat under exam conditions as this gives a sample of the real test but also highlights any weaknesses in understanding which can then be tackled with further examples or further explanation. This will allow the student to improve and excel.

About my sessions

I will follow the structure of the curriculum and set my leson plan out in a manner that compliments the teaching system liked by the student. I will advance plan all lessons from my notes and textbooks ensuring that all the information is correct and accessible. However if my student requires any extra support on a previously visited topic then I will adjust my approach allowing for the student to fully understand the information this time. I will take any advice and feedback given from my student and then adjust my teaching style to fit the framework that the student follows. I beleive that for a student to succed they must either fear failure or enjoy what they are learning. I engage my students by using relevant examples and exploring ideas in a manner that the text book does not. This personalises the learning process and allows for my students to enjoy learning and therefore do well. I will reglarly set questions and tasks to be completed that will allow me to gauge the progress being made.

What evidences are used to prove that Benzene's kekule model is incorrect and that Benzene has a delocalised Pi structure.

The enthalpy Change of Hydration for cyclohexene is 120 kJmol-1 therefore if the Kekule model is correct then the Enthalpy change of Hydration would be 360 kJmol-1 however as it is considerably less than that the Kekule model cannot be accepted.Cyclohexene can act as a nucleophile and donate electrons to Bromine and turn Bromine water clear by reacting with the Bromine. However Benzene cannot, therefore suggesting that Benzene does not contain 3 seperate double bonds as it is not polar enough to donate electrons and polarise the Bromine molecule. Therefore the delocalised ring system is favoured.The Bond length in Benzene is unifrom as a hybrid between that of a carbon=carbon double bond and that of a carbon-carbon single bond therefore the Kekule model cannot be correct as it suggests two different bond lengths.
