Salut! My name is Megan and I am a third-year French and Spanish student at King's College London, currently on my year abroad in Southern France working in a school.

I love studying languages, as it not only encapsulates the consolidation of grammar and vocabulary, but also means enjoying reading books and watching foreign films, listening to music in different languages. It means becoming more aware of different cultures and ways of living, and through this awareness, developing a more tolerant and empathetic character towards those we live and interact with.

As my French language-level is significantly higher than my Spanish, I will be offering lessons for the French language. To help my students improve their language-learning, I aim not only to help them improve their written language, through understanding grammatical points and learning new vocabulary through the teaching process, but also aim to help them improve their oral and listening skills through conversation. Furthermore, as I believe that the cultures of French-speaking countries are incredibly enriching, I would love to teach my students about French films, books, historical events, current affairs, etc. I believe that language-learning is not just simply learning a language, but learning about a culture and different ways of living in and perceiving the world around us.

Aside from my degree (and speaking languages!), I love reading, hiking, travelling and meditation!

About my sessions

My Online Lesson plans will be split into parts: written comprehension (ie: grammar and vocabulary), aural comprehension and oral comprehension/expression, and the lesson will centre around a cultural topic relevant to the French-speaking countries that is of interest to the student. However, I am very flexible, and lessons can/will be catered to students who have specific goals.

An exemplar Online Lesson:

An exemplar Online Lesson:

A lesson focused on the cultural topic of French food.

1) Written Comprehension: learning vocabulary for different foods/dishes/kitchen objects from reading and understanding a written passage that also utilises the 'imperfect tense' (that will be explained)

2) Oral Comprehension: a conversation about the student's favourite foods/dishes.

3) Aural Comprehension: Reading out a passage and asking questions revolving around the topic of food

Progress will be measured through my asking of questions, marking of any tasks I set, and their increasing ability to express themselves and utilise more difficult grammar constructions .

I will encourage learning by making the lessons enjoyable through focusing the lessons around cultural topics that are of interest to the student; the student will learnabout the language and the culture simultaneously, and will find that, when it is a topic they like, they will be more engaged and more confident to learn and express themselves in French!
