About me

My name is Matthew Hooton, I am offering tuition in Maths and Physics GCSE and A Level and I am looking to take on one or two students for the 15/16 academic year. I have just completed my Physics Masters at Warwick University, and have just started a PhD in exoplanet atmospheres at Queen's University Belfast.

I have spent the last 11 years doing various forms of tutoring at levels from year 9 SATs to GCSEs and A levels in the subjects of, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Further Maths. Most of my tutoring has been delivered face-to-face, and during this time I was able to build up a reputation for the quality of the service I provide and value for money in East London and Essex by word of mouth. I am relatively new to online tutoring, but I have worked hard to translate my talents into this medium using all the tools provided.

Over this time I have developed effective communication skills, and really enjoy sharing the knowledge I have garnered with others. I also have a decent knowledge of how best to approach study with a specific deadline (the exam) in mind, and the best timescales to learn the material and assignments whilst tapering up the practice of sample exam questions as we go.

My main priority will always be studying materials relevant to your course, with a view to achieving the best possible marks in exams, but I will also always be happy at the request of the student to explore concepts of particular interest outside the scope of the course. For those potentially interested in pursuing Physics at degree level, I am quite happy to go over the core material present in any Physics degree if requested. I am also happy to provide any advice with regards to university applications, and will share any of my experience on any relevant issue academic or non-academic.

Thank you for reading, and if you like the look of what you see feel free to contact me directly or arrange a meeting!
