About me

Having taken up Economics in sixth form, I wish I had the opportunity to study it at GCSE and I look forward to learning more in university. I love how economics encompasses a variety of things from externalities to market theory; development to financial markets. There is so much to be understood under the science of economics that I honestly believe everyone can find an aspect they enjoy. I would like to think that since I have only recently entered university, my A Level knowledge of Economics is still fresh and therefore I can provide valuable insight and I understand what it's like to be a student studying the subject.

About my sessions

In the first session, I will ask the student to let me know of any areas of the course that they struggle with or require further explanation so that I can cover them in depth in subsequent sessions. This will allow me to prepare for the online lessons ensuring that they are tailored to each student's needs. Following that, in each session I will cover the required content specified for the student's particular course and exam board; asking questions throughout to ensure understanding. Then depending on how well the student has understood the content, I will set independent tasks to be completed before the next lessons so we can go over them at the beginning and fill in any gaps in the student's knowledge, should their be any.

Questions Kira has answered

Explain two disadvantages of specialisation.

Vulnerability, whether it be an employee, firm or country who specialise, producing only one good can be a risk if that industry were to collapse. An example of this is the increase in unemployment in the south of England resulting from deindustrialisation.Quality of output may in fact decrease as repetition can cause boredom and workers may start to make mistakes.Vulnerability, whether it be an employee, firm or country who specialise, producing only one good can be a risk if that industry were to collapse. Why does excessive consumption of alcohol lead to negative externalities ?

The private consumer does not consider the effect that their excessive alcohol consumption has on a third party and so the private benefit outweighs the social benefit. There is a welfare loss to society from the over consumption and over valuing of alcohol above the socially optimal level. *Insert negative externality of consumption diagram*The private consumer does not consider the effect that their excessive alcohol consumption has on a third party and so the private benefit outweighs the social benefit.
