About me

I am currently a first year general engineering student at the University of Warwick. The reason why I chose to study it is because I really enjoyed Maths and Physics whilst I was at school, and I am fascinated by the many applications engineering has in the real world. Whilst I was still at school, I took my GCSE and A-Level exams and my experience of them was that the revision aspect of it can be very stressful. Despite that though, putting in the hard work and doing plenty of practice has helped me feel more confident about my subjects in the lead up to the exams. That, along with listening in class and doing homework in school, had helped me feel as prepared as possible for the exams. As a result, once I was at the exam, I wasn't too nervous and I was able to give it my best.

As for my hobbies and interests, I do enjoy sports such as football and swimming, and I enjoy music (listening to it and singing). At university, I looked to not only pursue my interests, but also try out new things. These include trying out dancing and becoming involved in charity work.

I want to tutor because it gives me the opportunity to help students progress in their learning and through it, see them have increased confidence in their own abilities. This in turn can help them feel more confident in every day life (not just academics). To be able to contribute towards that can be incredibly rewarding.

About my sessions

As a tutor, my way of teaching would be to work with the strengths and weaknesses of the student, and then tailor my lessons accordingly to them. This means that for their strengths, I can give them some practice questions in order to help consolidate what they know and push their learning to a more advanced level. However, my main focus will be on their weaknesses. I aim to explain what they struggle to understand by breaking down the concepts as much as I can, and then explaining them to a...

I aim to explain what they struggle to understand by breaking down the concepts as much as I can, and then explaining them to a level that enables them to understand. I would then put emphasis on practicing those topics and going over them, in order to consolidate what they have learnt.

My lessons will be focused on going over any topics or areas that the student is struggling in, by explaining it to them and going over examples. If the student also wants to push their knowledge to greater levels, I can also use the lessons to help with that. Where possible, I will try to go through my lessons based on either how the specification is structured or what they are learning at school (Depending on the need of the student).

With maths especially, what helped me succeed is reading through example questions and solutions, and then doing as much practice as possible, in order to be as prepared as possible for the questions that may appear in the exams.
