About me

I study History and Languages (French) at Cambridge and it is my first year. I generally love languages, I speak Bulgarian ( my native language), German, English, French, Spanish and some Italian. I also love history, literature and traveling which means that I love everything about those languages, the culture they are associated with, as well as the actual countries. I hope that by having all of the exam peculiarities fresh in my mind and my ability to relate to the students I will be able...

I also love history, literature and traveling which means that I love everything about those languages, the culture they are associated with, as well as the actual countries. I hope that by having all of the exam peculiarities fresh in my mind and my ability to relate to the students I will be able to help, but also possibly transfer some of my enthusiasm beyond just exam purposes. I am approachable, friendly and easy-going so I hope this will reassure students and help them feel more confident about their studies. I was a school prefect so I have often had to speak in public, give presentations and I have had basic training for working with kids. It is not the same as tutoring, but I hope that I will be able to transfer some of those skills and otherwise, I easily adapt to new situations, so whatever I can't manage from experience, I will through common sense and empathy.

About my sessions

Firstly, I will try to get to know my pupil, their exam topics, their particular week points and issues and I will try to organise, the lessons, wherever possible, to supplement and be proportionate to their studies at school. Next, regularly I will do a quick summary of the last session, through questions and exercises to make sure they have understood and remembered it and check whether we need to go through it again. I will then probably introduce a text, or a video when it comes to language learning, which will be on a specific theme. From there I would talk about specific characteristics of the culture, specific vocabulary related to that theme and lastly a specific grammar point. For each of this there will be some sort of exercise. Lastly, I will summarise the lesson, possibly give some work, and ask how they found it and how it is going in school to check if they have made any progress. I will check progress through their achievements in school as well as the eventual little homework and of course how they answer each of my questions. With regards to history I will also make it relevant to their syllabus, talk about how to answer different questions, plan them, and explain specific events. The beginning, ending and the evaluation will be the same as with the language tutorials.
