Hello!

My name is Tina Sandu and I am a first-year undergraduate at Imperial College London, studying for MEng Computing with Artificial Intelligence. I have graduated from one of the most prestigious high schools in Romania, with an average mark of 10 out of 10, as the valedictorian. I have always been fascinated and motivated by intellectual challenges, from puzzles and riddles to Maths and Informatics problems, trying to find algorithms and paths in everything I do. I chose to study this course because of my strong passion towards the STEM field (Science, Technology and Engineering and Mathematics), in order to be able to build a successful career as a researcher.

I have always been an active student, participating in regional and national Maths and Computing competitions and Olympiads, dedicating most of my time to intellectual development. I have represented my school in national robotic competitions such as First FTC or Cansats in Europe and in national and international scientific conferences such as Math.en.Jeans and European Researchers’ Night. Besides extracurricular activities, I have engaged myself in an intensive study for international exams, such as STEP, SAT Subject, MAT and Romanian Baccalaureate, achieving satisfying results.

I am a member of the art society, as I like to exercise my creative spirit and imagination. I believe that they are essential in being innovative in the field I chose.

About my sessions

I want to help and support students, as my parents and tutors did for me. I strongly believe that I can help students understand the basic concepts of fundamental mathematics and computer science and become more confident in these subjects. I want to help them discover the beauty of these sciences and support curiosity and constructive, academic ambition. Based on my experience as a student, I believe that the keys of improvement are qualitative communication between a tutor and their tutee,...

I want to help and support students, as my parents and tutors did for me. I strongly believe that I can help students understand the basic concepts of fundamental mathematics and computer science and become more confident in these subjects. I want to help them discover the beauty of these sciences and support curiosity and constructive, academic ambition. Based on my experience as a student, I believe that the keys of improvement are qualitative communication between a tutor and their tutee, as it is essential to understand the topic, and perseverance in exercise and individual work. Therefore, I will answer questions, explain them in detail, or present relevant examples and exercises of varying (increasing) levels of complexity and difficulty and discuss them rigorously.

I like to think of myself as an enthusiastic, optimistic and empathetic person. As a tutor, I will do my very best to inspire and motivate students of all ages and levels of knowledge and help them fulfill their goals.
