About me

About me:

I am a graduate from Cambridge University with a passion for all things historical! I studied History, English Literature, Classics and Latin at Pre-U and A-level, and also did an EPQ. I achieved a double starred first from Cambridge University, and won a faculty prize for the joint best undergraduate dissertation in the year. I am now about to begin my MPhil in Early Modern European History at Cambridge too.

I am friendly and enthusiastic, and really believe in the benefits of tutoring – I myself was tutored in Latin for my Pre-U (A level equivalent). I have experience in tutoring History at GCSE, AS and A2 level, and also have the Language and Sports Leaders awards for leading lessons with pupils aged 4 to 11. I really enjoy sharing my love of history with people, and want my students to be as confident and prepared for their exams as possible.

About my sessions

The Sessions:

The sessions will be tailored to you, and will therefore be guided by what you need to cover. I will need to know what time periods/texts you are studying, and what specifically you are struggling with, and will then use lots of different means (past papers, discussion, essay feedback etc.) to try to get you as confident as possible and grab you the best marks!

I always use students' own work when tutoring them. Generally, I ask to read a student's essay (usually written for a class assignment) before the session, and mark it in advance. I then go through it with the student in our lesson, showing how they can improve on their argument, structure, depth and breadth of knowledge, and use of historical material. I always ask a student what their academic goals are, and what grade they aim to achieve, so I can adjust my advice accordingly.

UCAS:

I am also very happy to help you with personal statements and interview preparation – I remember how stressful it can be and, having gone through the Oxbridge application process myself, am more than willing to give you advice!

What next?

Feel free to message me with any questions, or book at free ‘Meet the Tutor’ session to see whether you think I could help you!
