About me

I love programming and working with computers as much as I love teaching others to code. From making my first few games to participating in programming competitions in Spain, Switzerland and Hong Kong, and having a chance to work in world-renowned companies such as J.P. Morgan and Skyscanner, I know that programming is what I want to do in the long term.

I seek to equip students with the necessary coding skills to not only do well in school, but to also be able to unleash creativity by making games, websites and programs that the student may come up with.Take a sneak peek on what we can make!

About my sessions

Before the sessions, I gather material about the previous/upcoming class in order to identify any difficult parts the student may have, and to also estimate how much time completion of tasks should take.

I always intend to make session student-led: for programming questions, I inspire the student to talk about their train of thought, what they think of the problem and how they would approach it, giving them hints and leading them on the correct path. I am very cautious about giving plain solutions without inspiring the student to think critically. For theory/bookwork questions, I follow a similar style where the student leads the conversation while I fill in the missing gaps.

For assessing progress, I would either check on the completion of class coursework, or attempt to solve problems from relevant exam papers. Although I know performing in class may be a top priority, I also seek to inspire the student to be creative and to make interesting things in their own time.

What is the difference between HTML, CSS and JavaScript

HTML, CSS and JavaScript are the building blocks of the internet which are used to build all the websites around. HTML, or Hyper Text Markup Language, defines the layout of a webpage (where the headings go, what's the content that's displayed). CSS, or Cascading Style Sheets, define the styling of the website (what colours are used for each HTML component, whta font is used for text across the website). JavaScript is the main programming language that allows making your webpage interactive (clicking a button opens a box, filling in a form sends the information to a server).HTML, CSS and JavaScript are the building blocks of the internet which are used to build all the websites around.
