About me

Hi! My name is Prakruthi and I'm currently a 3rd year medical student at the University of Sheffield. The journey to getting to medical school was tough along with the degree itself, however, my passion for science and human biology means that it is the perfect degree for me. I am all too familiar with the stress of GCSE's, the new specification A-levels and university applications and would love to be a supporting figure for current students. From my own experience of having a tutor, and from helping peers in struggling areas, I have picked up a variety of techniques that will engage and motivate students. I was also a piano teacher for a year, from which I have developed strong interpersonal skills and patience. I think that it is important to have a friendly and open environment with students to build rapport and trust.

I'm very keen to help in anyway possible so let me know if you need me!

About my sessions

I think that the most important thing is to understand and respect the student's overall goals and aims per session.

This will allow me to adapt and adjust the lesson accordingly, whilst carefully sticking to the specification.

I would like to structure each session by starting with a recap of the previous session by highlighting key points and asking questions to keep the student interacted and to check if there are any areas they didn't understand quite as well. The bulk of the session would depend on the student and what they want. I can either go through any classwork/homework that they don't understand or methodically go through points in the specification. The session would end with a couple of practice questions for the student to do after the session to consolidate learning.

Preparation on both sides is key so if there are any key areas that the student wants to work on in an upcoming session they can let me know at the end of each lesson. This way I can familiarise myself with the topic using the exam board's specification and my own notes, and find sample questions.

If a student also needs advice for the UKCAT medical entrance exam or general help for medical school interviews I would be more than happy to help.

I can adapt my teaching style to whichever way the student learns best. Whether it is by drawing diagrams or by strange analogies that will stick out, I am here to help.
