Hi,

My name is Shay and I study Law at the University of Warwick. I love studying Law because it is interesting, intellectually challenging and relevant to the world around us. I also like that it is interdisciplinary as it incorporates subjects such as Politics, History, Economics and Sociology. As a tutor, I encourage my students to adopt this interdisciplinary approach. This is because it develops an authentic academic engagement with their chosen course, enabling them to get top marks in their exams.

My main hobby is writing poetry and my work has been published five times as of 2018. I also enjoy debating and volunteering.

About my sessions

In my initial consultation session, I discover the goals of my student, what course they are on and what type of learner they are. With these things in mind, I begin preparing for our subsequent sessions. I make sure students obtain their goals by including activities/tasks that cater to what type of learner they are. I then ensure these activities directly address an assessment objective set by the exam board to ensure they get the most marks.

I then ensure these activities directly address an assessment objective set by the exam board to ensure they get the most marks.

The structure of my online lessons are as follows: a starter activity, a main task and a plenary. I usually give my students an exercise to do in their own time at the end of a topic which we will then go over in our next session. I find this is an effective way to measure their progress as these assignments are often taken from the exam so this gives them practice and a chance to engage with feedback.
