About me

English literature has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I have always adored reading and writing. At school, I always looked forward to getting to study a new text and explore the new characters a book would offer. I would always enjoy finding new books in my spare time and I still am an avid book worm. English literature has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I have always adored reading and writing. At school, I always looked forward to getting to study a new text and explore the new characters a book would offer. I would always enjoy finding new books in my spare time and I still am an avid book worm. My favourite thing about the subject is that it incorporates all of my favourite subjects which I studied at A Level: Religious Studies, Government & Politics and History. English literature is the study of not only the text, but the historical context, the political meaning and reflection of societal views. There are endless ways to interpret a text and I love spending time working out how I connect to it personally.  Everything around us is literature. Be it our political constitution, or religious texts, so much of our existence is written down. My passion for the subject will help students see why literature and other subjects are relevant and why they matter in our daily lives.

I write for my university's RAZZ magazine on lifestyle, and have got to interview a range of people such as Ollie Locke and Felicity Ward. I also love fitness and going to the gym, baking and volunteering for mental health charities.

About my sessions

From our first fifteen minute meeting, I will not only get to know you, the student, but work out what it is that you feel confident in, and what it is that they feel they need more help with. From this stage, I will spend time devising a schedule dividing time accordingly to different areas that the student feels they would benefit from looking at. I will give my all to helping the student and going the extra mile to make sure they grow in both their ability and confidence.

In our tutoring sessions, we will be discussing the content of their course, talking about key terminology, looking at the examination specification, planning exam style questions together, answering questions about the course, working out a revision timetable, setting essays, talking about concerns and building the student’s confidence.

It is so important to me to work alongside the student and find out how it is that they learn. Through discussions and trying different methods of learning and revising, I am confident that I can form a good learning programme with the student to help them succeed. Some students prefer visual learning with pictures and colours to help them remember things, whilst others benefit from writing things down and doing things in a practical sense. However the student best learns, we can work out a plan perfect to suit their needs.

Francesca is an excellent English tutor. She's very good with my daughter Eloise who is extremely shy. Eloise has settled well into her weekly sessions and is finding them to be very helpful towards her GCSE study preparation. I would highly recommend her tutoring.
