About me

A strong educational background is the key to unlocking your future, and that is why it is so important to enjoy your studies. Enjoyment allows you to invest time and energy into your qualifications and reap every reward for your hard work. It seems that exams only seem to get tougher, and that is why we students need to help each other! I personally still find that collaborative work and communication maximises my understanding of a subject. Not only does conversation allow you to process overwhelming amounts of information, the ideas of others can get your creative juices flowing! I understand that students are required to process information as a whole, but also analyse content at a microlevel. I can therefore provide you with tips and tricks to ease your reading, writing, evaluative and argumentative skills. As Head Girl at my secondary school I was responsible for organising and leading reading and revision sessions for students ranging from year 7 to 11. I also completed my World Challenge Expedition in Thailand, teaching children of varying abilities to read and write basic English. As part of my degree I am required to lead classes and tutorials with discussions of an allocated topic and provide accompanying revision packs for my fellow students. I am capable of producing and delivering informative presentations in a demanding time frame, and am used to challenging questions!

About my sessions

My sessions will be crafted around YOUR personal interests and aims. As a student myself, I understand the need to perfect 'box ticking' techniques, but I also aim to develop your individual thought and critique. What impresses an examiner most, is your ability to demonstrate your subject interest and provide them with fresh ideas. Our open conversations will aim to inspire the unique potential you have within you. You may feel daunted and isolated by the amount of work you are required to undertake as a whole, however I aim to de-compartmentalise your work into manageable chunks. Depending on your learning preferences, we can address the general scope of a topic, or I can provide a detailed analysis of a more specific idea, theme, or text. Creating succinct and clear notes has always been my priority. There is nothing worse than reaching exam season and finding gaps in your notes! At the end of each session you will take away with you notes which will remind you of the key points of our discussion. Visual aids such as mind maps and flash cards have been my favourite method of revision, and we can make these together. As they say, practice makes perfect, and whilst it may seem laborious now, practice exam questions are confidence-boosting. I will happily create short quizzes, or longer answer style questions which you can attempt, and we will discuss together, without the pressure of school-style marking!
