About me

i'm currently a 2nd year medical student at the University of Leeds. I've always loved studying science subjects and caring for the welfare of others motivated my passion to study medicine. I've had previous tutoring experience by helping students at my secondary school, particularly in chemistry. I have also helped prospective medical students for their personal statements and interview preparation.

About my sessions

Firstly i'd find out how my student is currently progressing in their chosen subject and what they would like to achieve from these tutoring sessions. I'll then go through the topics the student is finding difficult as well as ensuring their current knowledge is also revised . I'll give them questions to do with a range of difficulty and then do some past paper questions, as i feel that's the best kind of revision as that's closest style of questions they would get in their exams.

Questions Azreen has answered

Explain what happens to the boiling and solubility of alcohols as their chain length increases

Boiling point: As alkyl chain length increases, boiling point increases as there are surface area contacts and so stronger induced dipole-dipole intermolecular forces – more energy needed to overcome leading to a higher boiling pointSolubility: As alkyl chain length increases, the solubility of the alcohol decreases since the aliphatic chain can’t form H-bonds and that becomes the larger part of the moleculeBoiling point: As alkyl chain length increases, boiling point increases as there are surface area contacts and so stronger induced dipole-dipole intermolecular forces – more energy needed to overcome leading to a higher boiling pointSolubility: As alkyl chain length increases, the solubility of the alcohol decreases since the aliphatic chain can’t form H-bonds and that becomes the larger part of the molecule
