About me

I love studying the planet we live on! Geography was therefore the subject I was eager to study at a higher level. Taking my final exams in school and applying to University confirmed my decision. I am passionate about allowing others to engage in this field of study too; I feel it is so important, with current global environmental and economic states changing rapidly, to gain an understanding of how the planet works, and how best to look after it. I am primarily focused on physical geography, with a specific interest in global climate change. Part of my degree research has involved measuring air quality in a top UK tourist destination. Working directly in the field, and also with the local council, is exciting and has taught me many useful skills that I shall carry for life. Outside of my subject, I take time to relax by reading, running and baking. I am part of the Christian Union, and enjoy planning events to invite others to.

My first year university tutor was a research academic in Biogeography. His work was of such interest to me that I would one day like to visit the Arctic myself, and look at how the changing global climate is impacting that beautiful part of the world. Like my tutor, I hope to inspire others in the way I teach and explain geographical concepts, demonstrating just

how fascinating Geography is!

About my sessions

In preparation for our sessions, I will go over the topic in question in depth, covering both theory and application. I shall do this using revision guides and online presentations. During the sessions, we shall discuss the topic and how either has been or is currently relevant. We shall apply the theory where appropriate by looking at specific case studies. In preparation for our sessions, I will go over the topic in question in depth, covering both theory and application. I shall do this using revision guides and online presentations. During the sessions, we shall discuss the topic and how either has been or is currently relevant. We shall apply the theory where appropriate by looking at specific case studies. There will be a chance for the student to ask any questions that they have about the topic at the end. If I cannot give an answer straight away, I shall prepare an answer for our next session. The best way to fully understand what has been covered in the session is to do some example exam questions. These can be done together or answered independently for me to mark afterwards. We shall revise exam technique during the sessions, from how to best read a question to writing short and long answers. We can also go over revision techniques specific to the student and develop these as the sessions go on, allowing good progress to be made. I found making colourful A3 posters of topics really helped when it came to both my GCSE and A-Level exams.

To encourage learning and make it engaging, we shall watch some short documentaries on specific examples, as sometimes visual learning helps make theory more clear. I can also recommend longer documentaries for students to watch in their own time, and keep continuous study interesting!
