About me

I am currently studying Medicine at the University of Leeds, so naturally I have a real intrigue for human biology and how things work. It is probably one of the most rewarding journeys to be upon, as every day is full of different challenges. To get here, there was a lot of pressure weight on my A-Level exams, so I fully understand the stresses that come with this time of your schooling career! Besides academia, I love the arts and everything creative - I feel this gives me a platform to view things from all kinds of perspectives, to help me and others to get to where we've set out to achieve. From painting to playing the guitar to baking, I can't stress enough how important it is to immerse yourself in something you enjoy outside of your school work.

About my sessions

In terms of the lessons I will deliver, my main aim is to tailor each session to the individual. It goes without saying that everyone learns differently, therefore I come to my lessons with a few different tricks up my sleeve to make sure that we can find the best way for you to learn. If this means repetition of the basics and then applying theories to the trickier stuff, then we can take it at your pace and set little goals to keep on track. In all, the main aim is to achieve a position where you feel confident that you can enter an exam and do yourself proud, earning yourself a real reflection of your potential.

Questions Phoebe has answered

What is the significance of performing mouth-to-mouth breaths during CPR?

Exhaled air contains a higher percentage of CO2 than inhaled air, due to it being a waste product of respiration. By breathing excess CO2 into the patient, the blood acidity will decrease and will be detected by the pH receptors in the hypothalamus. This will stimulate the respiratory muscles- the outer intercostal muscles and the diaphragm will contract, causing the chest cavity to be pulled upwards and outwards, decreasing the pressure within the thorax and allowing air to flow inwards. This should help to restore normal breathing in the patient.Exhaled air contains a higher percentage of CO2 than inhaled air, due to it being a waste product of respiration.
