About me

Hello my name is Megan and I am currently in my 1st year of University studying Veterinary Medicine at Cambridge. I am passionate about my veterinary studies as it perfectly combines my love of science with my desire to work with animals as a career. In my spare time when I am not working for my degree, I play 1st team netball for my college (St. John's) and love to run in my revision breaks!

I am passionate about my veterinary studies as it perfectly combines my love of science with my desire to work with animals as a career. In my spare time when I am not working for my degree, I play 1st team netball for my college (St. John's) and love to run in my revision breaks!

By gaining 10A*s at GCSE and 2A*s and 2As at A level in Biology, Chemistry, Maths and French respectively, I know how best to work for these subjects and how to achieve the top grades in doing so. I have always loved seeing the benefits of revision and the techniques I use are still proving to be useful at university. I would love to help students achieve the grades they deserve by helping them with concepts they find tricky. I am a patient and kind tutor who can help students achieve their target grades-no matter what they may be.

I worked as an Au Pair in Italy for 6 weeks during the summer of 2018 teaching English to an Italian family. I developed my teaching skills greatly here as I had to overcome the language barrier too! I also learnt how to best communicate with teenagers and to engage with them in their subject.

About my sessions

My lessons will be fun and engaging, aiming to spark a real interest and passion for the subject. I will focus on exam techniques and revision methods too. Looking at the specification and seeing what the student needs work on will provide the foundations to the sessions.

My lessons will be fun and engaging, aiming to spark a real interest and passion for the subject. I will focus on exam techniques and revision methods too. Looking at the specification and seeing what the student needs work on will provide the foundations to the sessions.

I am happy to cover anything that the student needs help with. I am able to work through questions they found tricky/got wrong, go through past paper questions with them to see their logic in answering them and take a whole topic within the subject to revise together.

I will prepare the topic beforehand so that I have the knowledge fresh in my head and have thought about how I will teach the topic to the student. The style of teaching depends solely on the student, level and subject and so I will suit the structure to the lesson at hand.

I believe the key to success is in setting both long and short-term goals and so I will discuss this in the teaching sessions.

Encouraging learning is a skill and is not an easy task. I have been tutored before in Maths A level and so I feel as though I know how to encourage others in tutoring. Progression is definitely an encouragement to learn and with that comes success!

I also run Cambridge preparation sessions for Veterinary Medicine personal statements and interviews and students have found these to be very helpful.
