About me

Learning shouldn't be difficult or boring, it should be fun and engaging and make you come back wanting to know more and that is what my sessions are all about.

I have a real passion for all the subjects that i tutor from philosophy which I have studied through education and independently for over 6 years, to French which is my second language and that i have achieved in at A level and GCSE .

My dream has always been to teach these subjects and guide people through them, so that they can enjoy and achieve in these subjects at a high level. I really believe that anybody can succeed in any subject they want if they put their minds to it and get the best help available to guide them.

Every student is different and has different needs from visual learners to those who just like learning through repetition, my sessions will be able to cater for all of them to ensure they achieve their targets and even go beyond them hopefully.

About my sessions

My sessions will be extremely flexible and able to tailor my sessions to the demands of students and parents by engaging in discussion, preparing for an exam or answering some burning questions on what they are currently studying. I can adapt to any student level making sure sessions will be entirely accessible to them and ensuring that ,as a result, they achieve their very best.

In order to ensure progression in the most interesting manner i will sometimes set research tasks that will help broaden horizons and in addition to that in French be there to help prepare for any examination they may have be it oral to written. I am also very happy to mark any written work, giving feedback so that they can improve over and over.

The goal of my sessions in the end would be to make sure that the students reach their personal goals . Whether this be through them getting a clearer understanding on a topic which they were stuck on, jumping up a grade boundary in an assessment or having learnt something new and interesting which furthers their study and passion for a subject.

Questions Thomas has answered

What is the difference between Kantian ethics and utilitarianism ?

Kantian ethics is deontological meaning that an action is deemed oral based on its internal structure... in more simple terms its basically it is what motivated you to do that action that matters. Utilitarianism is a consequentialist approach so it focuses on the consequences of moral decisions, and specifically in utilitarianism an action is judged on whether as a consequence an action causes more pleasure than pain.So utilitarianism is based on the outcome and Kantian ethics is based on your motive.Kantian ethics is also in the business of making absolute moral laws which cannot be broken .....where as utilitarianism allows rules to be broken in order to reach the outcome with the most utility making it more subjective in nature.Kantian ethics is deontological meaning that an action is deemed oral based on its internal structure... in more simple terms its basically it is what motivated you to do that action that matters.
