What I love about English is finding weird and wonderful ideas from a literary text and equipping students to be able to write persuasively and confidently about their ideas. In my classroom, no idea is a wrong, and I like working through texts to both help your understanding of it and also to enrich your skills in literary analysis.

From the age of 12 to 18 I ran an online study skills vlog on my social media called Study on Toast! I have a very realistic idea of studying, for I understand how stressful school life is. My goal is to bring your school work back down-to-earth and work out a plan with you of how to approach your studying. I got A*A*A*A*A* in my A Levels, and 11 A*s at GCSE -- I did this while still maintaining a work/life balance, so what I offer is an engaging style of approaching and working through content, with revision methods and tips that emphasise prioritising mental health and having fun.

About my sessions

I encourage students from every background to consider me as their tutor: I have experience working with students with English as a second language, and students with disabilities. As a student myself from a low-income, first-generation background entering an Oxbridge space, I have worked a lot with encouraging similar students disadvantaged backgrounds with their A Levels and realising their own real potential.

I have been told I am a bit eccentric -- I may use memes in my lessons, I may make bizarre analogies, but I do this all in the hope of demystifying that English and literature is an impossible subject to apply to daily life.

I have lots of experience proofreading and editing. In my lessons I will give advice on structuring arguments, and will give grammatical feedback for any written work. I value explaining these edits so that you can properly learn and continue to improve from once we have finished our time together.

I adapt to every student's needs -- which is particularly useful for English because areas of struggle and areas of enjoyment really are different for everyone. Please send me a message if you are interested in getting to know a bit more about me!
