About me

Hello there,

I am currently an English and French student at the University of Nottingham. I had originally applied for Law but then changed by mind and decided that I had a real passion for English, particularly literature. I am a very strong believer that the books we read tell us a lot about the period it was written and as someone who is fond of history, I find it extremely interesting. I had originally applied for Law but then changed by mind and decided that I had a real passion for English, particularly literature. I am a very strong believer that the books we read tell us a lot about the period it was written and as someone who is fond of history, I find it extremely interesting. As for French, I love French history and culture, I believe there is a lot to be learnt from it and many great historic figures come from France, such as Victory Hugo, Marie Curie, Louis Pasteur.

When it comes to exams, I definitely know what it feels like to pass as well as fail. I also know what it feels like to feel like you can't achieve what you want to in a particular subject and therefore I would like to think I know how to overcome it as well.

As for my spare time, I am probably like you, I enjoy watching different TV series, going out with my friends and if I feel sportive I enjoy playing netball.

Firstly, I think it's important I ask my students what their own personal goals are and I like to note them down as well as remind them during difficult times of their goals because I believe it helps them remember why it is they are trying so hard in the first place.

As I am helping with essay subjects, from personal experience working through questions is an effective way of learning content as well as applying it to an exam situation. Therefore, a lot of my online lessons will revolve around analysing questions, planning essay questions as well as getting in contextual knowledge.

As for measuring progress, I would help my students to plan essays and guide them through it but eventually I will reverse the roles and ask them to guide me through a question and write for me the occasional extended paragraphs from essays we have planned.

I think the best way to encourage learning is to assure pupils that they are more then capable of achieving the goals that they want as well as reassuring them that not understanding or not quite getting the hand of things is alright and is very natural and it does not mean that they will fail.
