About me

Hello Everyone. My name is Adam, I’m 21, studying at KCL. I have experience using AQA syllabus’ and am flexible to work with others. I first got excited about studying law during my college years where I benefited from having an excellent tutor myself. What I love about studying Law and the humanities is the deductive and reasoned thinking process involved. A good point is only as good as the argument in which it is made and it excites me to be able to break down and solve problems and answer questions efficiently, a skill which I hope to pass on. What sets me apart from other tutors is the style and format I teach in. I try create engaging, dynamic lessons tailored around a students needs. I incorporate various methods of learning from auditory to kinaesthetic and discuss my lesson plan with students to provide a tailored teaching session. In short, I have a passion for learning and education and believe in taking a genuine interest in students’ learning and making an extra effort to cater to every student and maximise potential. A student can only take from a subject what a tutor is willing to give and I can’t wait to help.

About my sessions

I aim to help students both improve grades and also gain motivation for studying. I have designed a lesson plan as a broad, flexible outline of teaching to achieve that. Opening discussion, 5-7 minutes of opening discussion to build a rapport with the student and learn what they like/dislike about the subject etc. in order to tailor my lesson and give relevant information. Auditory learning, 15 minutes of myself giving a lecture from the syllabus and the student taking notes and reading material. This stage is auditory focused and is meant to introduce the student to primary concepts of the topic. Most syllabus material for the lesson will be covered in this step. Visual learning, 15 minutes for the student to create a presentation with my help, in order to cover detailed points of the material and use visual and creative cues to aid comprehension of the topic. Practical skills such as mark scheme/syllabus analysis will be taught in this stage. Kinaesthetic learning, 15 minutes for the student to create a presentation or piece of work without my help and to teach the material back to me. This requires students to express what they know, greatly aiding memory and comprehension of the topic. Final clarification, 5-7 minutes of closing discussion for the student to ask any questions on the lesson or broadly on the subject. Closing the lesson with on-topic conversation will work to increase motivation for the topic and next lesson.
