About me

Hi, my name is Mark and I am a 1st year Economics student at the University of Nottingham. I have always been quite academic but I do love my fair-share of sports which include football and rugby. After my excellent GCSE's, I was given a scholarship to attend my 6th form where I went on to get A*AA in my A-Levels with the A* in Economics and the two A's in Maths and Chemistry. I love economics as it's the perfect blend of analytical and essay writing skills combined with some math...

After my excellent GCSE's, I was given a scholarship to attend my 6th form where I went on to get A*AA in my A-Levels with the A* in Economics and the two A's in Maths and Chemistry. I love economics as it's the perfect blend of analytical and essay writing skills combined with some maths knowledge as well. I chose to study it at university because I knew I would enjoy the enlarged role of maths in the course and that it would also further strengthen my analytical skills. I would help my students to improve by imparting them with the tips and tricks that I learnt over my A-Levels to help them by ready to plan both the essays in the exam as well as understand the concepts to answer the multiple choice questions in the exam.

About my sessions

I begin my lessons with a starter exercise to see how much of the previous lesson the student remembers as a way to develop active revision and make sure that they are continually revising the material we are covering. Then, we will begin the core material for the lesson where we will go over the main concepts including diagrams and the main points to write in the exam. At the end of the lesson, there will also be a summary of what we have covered in the lesson as a way to refresh their memor...

I begin my lessons with a starter exercise to see how much of the previous lesson the student remembers as a way to develop active revision and make sure that they are continually revising the material we are covering. Then, we will begin the core material for the lesson where we will go over the main concepts including diagrams and the main points to write in the exam. At the end of the lesson, there will also be a summary of what we have covered in the lesson as a way to refresh their memory. I would prepare for the Online Lessons by preparing a lesson plan before hand with the various learning outcomes that I would like to achieve in that lesson. Then, I would look over the different diagrams that would have to be drawn for the lessons to help the student understand the different concepts. When it comes to delivering the Online Lessons, I will employ a very talkative based approach that will leave space for questions and time for different exercises to also be prepared in that time I will measure the progress by having test every 2 weeks on the material that we have covered and providing high quality feedback on the test by telling them ways they can improve and what they did well. I believe the most important aspect to encourage learning is to really instil a joy of the subject and of the lessons in the tutee. If this is achieved the tutee will enjoy coming to the lessons and will therefore be more inclined to do the work to prepare for the lessons.
