Hi! My name's Jess, and I'm a second year Economics and Politics student at the University of York. I love my degree as these two fields are constantly changing, and I can't wait to get involved in the financial or political sectors after I graduate. In my spare time, I'm a keen member of the Debating and Model United Nations societies.
I've always found exam period a very stressful time and know exactly what it's like to feel nervous or unsure of your abilities before sitting an exam. I believe that the best way to tackle exam stress is to make sure you have a really good understanding of the concepts behind the questions you'll be asked to solve, so whatever the exam throws at you, even if it's a type of question you haven't seen before, you know you've got the best possible shot at answering the question.

Before each session, I'll ask what topic you'd like to look at, or if there's a specific problem set you're struggling with. I'll then look over what you've sent me and put together a lesson plan to help you really get to grips with this topic. To measure progress, I'll set you a question at the end of a lesson and ask you to solve it, so I can see how you apply the skills you've learnt.
I believe that the best way to encourage learning is by promoting a positive approach. My focus will always be on commending students for their improvements, to encourage them to work hard and improve in even more areas.
