About me

Hi! Originally from Belfast, N. Ireland, I moved to Bristol to study medicine in 2016. I've now completed 2 pre-clinical years of medicine, which I've absolutely loved. Medicine has interested me since I was young and over the years it became my passion. I enjoy reading books and newspaper articles about medicine, enjoy meeting doctors and discussing their experience and was able to motivate myself to study further about the human body! This year I am intercalating, doing a BSc in Biomedical Engineering and Clinical Materials. I moved to Queen Mary University of London for this. For me this year has been an amazing opportunity to experience a new city and completely new field of study - approaching the human body and interventions from an engineering point of view has been brilliant. I'm working with the London Air Ambulance, designing a device to assist with one of their life-saving procedures.

Outside of studying I have a number of hobbies and enjoy playing rugby, tennis and sailing. I also play guitar, sing in a choir and perform in drama productions. Otherwise I'll be reading a good book or walking my dog Charlie!

About my sessions

It is vital that the tutoring works for you and I will listen to your aims for what you want to achieve from tutoring. Every learner is different - I want to get to know you to help identify which areas will be most beneficial for us to work on. Everyone deserves the chance to achieve their potential, but unfortunately in the busy school environment this isn't always possible. I am here to give you that extra time, a listening ear to hear what you're struggling with, and simply someone to be mentor and guide you through - from the difficult topics to simple questions that just happen to pop into your mind!

Every session will have my complete commitment and will have pre-work and planning done. As an ex-Scout 'Be Prepared' is still how I approach any task, and I won't show up to sessions without having structured what we will achieve. I will prepare a session timetable so you can prepare in advance, but it will be flexible to allow revisiting topics. Using past-paper question work we can measure progress and work together to ensure you are getting to where you want to be.

It's important to keep learning fun so that you are encouraged to continue. I will try to make teaching as light as possible and will listen clearly to your feedback to make sure you're happy. At the end of the day, the subjects you are studying were your choice and so I want to make sure you're enjoying them as much as possible!
