About me

Hey, I’m a second year undergraduate Maths student at the University of Warwick, and someone who just loves helping people understand some of the most interesting subjects at school that help us to understand the world around us! Maths is the perfect subject for me as it involves using analytical techniques to show or prove statements that we may ‘know’ are true using geometrical ‘pictures’. It also has a satisfaction unparalleled to any other subject.

Maths is the perfect subject for me as it involves using analytical techniques to show or prove statements that we may ‘know’ are true using geometrical ‘pictures’. It also has a satisfaction unparalleled to any other subject.

I love studying about Economics as all concepts come down to an intuitive risk-benefit analysis that we all do before making decisions, and we can relate everything discussed to such decisions in our daily lives.

In my spare time, I enjoy playing sport. I have represented my county Berkshire in men’s cricket for the last 4 years and now Warwick also. I have previous experience of tutoring children for GCSE and A-Level. I have been a peer mentor at Sixth Form for GCSE students and a tutor at the national tuition centre Bright Young Things for 2 years. Combined with my intricate knowledge of the specifications and how interesting these subjects can be – I believe I can help any student wanting to improve. My previous exam grades give me a good foundation to work with students to achieve the very top grades, with 10A*s at GCSE and A*A*A*A at A Level alongside a grade S in STEP I and II as well as a grade 1 in STEP III.

About my sessions

My sessions will always be interactive but will revolve around the specific goals the student wants. At the start of the first session I will give a quick introduction to settle into the session and to better understand exactly what a student is looking for before we begin working. I firmly believe that the two most crucial aspects to success at school are for students to ask questions and practise what they learn with quality revision time.

For students that would like to go through specification topics one at a time and discuss theory then practice questions I will usually use worksheets or power-point presentations that I would make. I can send the presentations through the website so the student could use these in the future. To measure progress of such students, I use 15-minute assessments before beginning a new topic.

However, I will use a more flexible approach for students that may be aiming to improve their exam grade, or to get better at answering the higher level questions. The main way I would measure progress is through setting past exam questions, or using questions that were beyond the specification but encourage the student to really think hard about what it is they are doing, rather than simply remembering facts or certain cases of questions. The discussions we have over subject material, hopefully becoming more detailed as the sessions go on, will also play a role in gaging the progress a student has made in achieving thier goals.
