About me

Friendly, passionate university student who's always keen to be of any help he can be. I am well versed in the GCSE and A-Level English Literature course and am passionate about writing essays (hard to believe but there are people like me out there, ha!) I am currently studying Politics as a degree at Cardiff University, meaning I bring undergraduate-level writing expertise which is very much relevant to the kinds of questions asked in English exams.

About my sessions

I will aim to identify areas that students are struggling with, and help work through their problems by explaining how to achieve great marks based on what the mark schemes asks of them, showing how to apply their knowledge of the texts they're studying to their answers. To encourage learning, I believe it is essential that students are able to identify the major themes, ideas and characters of any text they're studying, something which I will show how to do through my sessions. These will be based on my own experiences with learning English at GCSE and A-Level, meaning I bring relevant, first hand expertise of the kind of difficulties found in studying English.

Questions Munro has answered

Compare and contrast the portrayal of the relationship Mrs Linde and Nora have with their parents.

Nora treatment of her father - leaving him on his deathbed - contrasts highlight with Mrs Linde's treatment, as she chose to care for her sick parent. Nora's treatment is reflective of her childlike nature, which in turn contrasts with Mrs Linde's portrayal as a practical and pragmatic person and Nora's childlike nature. The relationships are also impacted by the wealth of each characters; where Mrs Linde is from a poorer family who must rely upon other family members for support, Nora is from a richer family. This is inductive of wealth disparities in late 19th century Europe, where healthcare quality was highly dependent on personal wealth. Thus, the contrast between Mrs Linde and Nora's relationship with their parents is in turn a reflection of societal differences at the time as well a reflection of the nature of the characters. Relevant references to other characters in the story, especially those with a close relationship to Nora such as Torvald would be beneficial.Nora treatment of her father - leaving him on his deathbed - contrasts highlight with Mrs Linde's treatment, as she chose to care for her sick parent.
